Original OEM cell phone, tablet parts VS aftermarket parts

When a company or individual is looking into buying Original OEM cell phone, tablet parts VS aftermarket parts there is a big decision to make on the quality of parts that you buy. I have been in the electronic industry for over 12 years and one thing I have found, generally you get what you pay for. This rings very true in electronics, if you have ever bought a no name controller for a gaming system, an off brand TV, an inexpensive universal remote control, a cheap amplifier, or, probably more relevant a low priced smart phone. You will understand that there is a reason you pay more for a high quality, name brand electronic.

Parts are no different. If you look online at cell phone parts pricing there is a large difference in the price of the parts. You can buy the same screen for $38 that another is offering for $70 and another wants $100 for the same screen! How do you differentiate between them and pick the best one for you?

There are three basic categories for buying Original OEM cell phone, tablet parts VS aftermarket parts and are as follows.

Generic or aftermarket. We have found that a lot of our competition uses these parts and screens in their repairs. These parts are the least expensive to buy and usually can get them in A, AA, AAA, or AAA+. These parts work most of the time initially for the repair with the odd part not working out of the box. The problem with these parts is their life expectancy is very low meaning the part is more likely to just die for no reason. They use lesser quality parts meaning the parts are more fragile. Worst of all when you use these parts they tend to misshape the connectors on the board they connect to. This means if and when you do need to replace that part again many times the new part will not connect to the board properly because the part it has been replaced with has misshaped the connector on the mother board. Unless you really need a cheap fix, don’t recommend this type of part.

We at Mobi Jack’s buy original LCD screens and parts. Now what this means is that the part is off an original iPhone, Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG phone, usually refurbished this means that the part with a cracked screen is sent to a magical place somewhere that takes the cracked screen and replaces all the parts to make it new again, leaving you with a manufacturer quality product that has the glass and possibly housing replaced. The connectors and all working parts are true OEM quality and fit perfectly the way they were meant too. The quality of the picture is true to what it is supposed to be, and the parts are generally reasonably priced (however still 20 to 40% more than generic). There is still the possibility of the part not working out of the box but it is lower and with a good supplier they will have no problems taking these defective screens and parts back.

Then there are new OEM parts out there. These parts are generally the most expensive being 20 to 40% more than the original parts. These are parts made at the same factories with the same equipment that the manufacture uses. These are the best parts to buy however as mentioned also the most expensive. These are parts that one may want to use on an expensive device that they just bought and broke only days or weeks earlier.

In my experience my recommendation is to not buy the cheap parts, these only cause headache and often times means you have to do the same repair a couple times for the part to work. The price in most of these repairs is usually a large part labour, if you are having to do the same repair 2 or 3 times, probably not worth the time and effort.

And so concludes my review on Original OEM cell phone, tablet parts VS aftermarket parts.
